Plan involves new construction and consolidation centered on growth in Rochester, N.Y.
Wegmans Food Markets has released details on its $110 million supply chain investment to support future growth.
A central part of the plan is a new, state-of-the-art refrigerated facility in Wegmans' hometown of Rochester, N.Y., that will support perishable operations, including fresh produce, meat and seafood, deli, and restaurant foods.
The supermarket chain will also move its return center operations from its current Winton Road location in Rochester to a new modernized building located within the city.
According to the company, these facilities will offer an improved work environment, add capacity to serve stores and create opportunities for its distribution employees. Wegmans will also be allowed to reduce reliance on third-party providers.
