After shedding some of its peripheral businesses, including its Wahlburgers partnership and its convenience-store operations, Hy-Vee is doubling down on prepared foods, perishables, health and pharmacy.
The company has several new initiatives planned in those areas, CEO Jeremy Gosch told the Des Moines Business Record in an in-depth interview detailing the retailer's growth strategy for the future. In the wake of the company's 2024 purchase of the Strack & Van Til chain, more acquisitions could also be a part of the company's future, he said.
"What we're really looking at is, 'How do we continue to move to where the customer wants us to go long term?'" Gosch, who was named CEO in 2022, told the newspaper.
