Amazon Adds New Employee Grocery Discount for All U.S. Workers

Amazon will give all U.S. workers access to a new employee grocery discount starting Oct. 1, the company said Wednesday. The new benefit will give employees a 10% discount on groceries from Amazon.com and Whole Foods Market Online, as well as a 20% discount on in-store purchases at Whole Foods Markets and Daily Shops.

Amazon explained the benefit will be available to employees starting on day one of their work with the company, and there will be no cap or minimum purchase associated with the discount. Employees will also be able to combine the new grocery discount with other savings such as Prime savings, coupons, Lightning Deals and Subscribe & Save.

"Groceries are one of the most frequent purchases people make. It's the bill that comes due every week, and it adds up," Jason Buechel, VP of Amazon Worldwide Grocery Stores and CEO of Whole Foods Market, wrote in a blog post. "We know our employees are shopping for groceries regularly - just like our customers are. When we looked at where we could make a meaningful difference in employees' everyday lives, groceries rose to the top because of how often people buy them."
