Aldi is cutting prices on a range of fresh produce and chicken this fall, expanding a series of price reductions that the discount grocer says has pushed prices on nearly one-third of its everyday assortment below year-ago levels.
The company said the latest reductions, which took effect Sept. 23 and are scheduled to remain in place through at least Nov. 3, are expected to generate about $86 million in savings for shoppers.
The cuts are focused heavily on fresh foods, including Autumncrisp grapes, Bartlett pears, Brussels sprouts, butternut squash, spaghetti squash, fresh herbs, garlic, French beans and several varieties of apples and potatoes.
Aldi said Honeycrisp apples are now priced at $1.99 per pound, a 35% decrease from last year and the chain's lowest everyday price for the variety in more than five years.
The grocer also lowered the price of Kirkwood chicken breast family packs to $1.99 per pound, which Aldi said is its lowest everyday price for the product since 2022.
